[24/01/2021, 17:23:16] Mark Cronshaw: Next Saturday 30 January: don’t miss the online laser safety programme! I know Steven Parker has put together a superb course which is absolutely up to date & fully supported with manuals etc Theres also an online exam as a free to delegates option at the end. On completion you get a qualification as a Laser Safety Officer which is valid for five years. This puts you and your team into excellent standing with the compliance requirements for laser use in dental practice. The programme takes 5 hours: try not to miss it as it is genuinely interesting plus it checks a very important box in respect of proven awareness & competence in the safety aspects of clinical laser usage. Hope to see you there! Based on early research and through a dedicated peer-reviewed evidence approach, it has been possible to identify and propose the integration of new techniques using laser photonic energy into general and specialist dental practice. Lasers generally have many intrinsic, interesting, and useful properties. For instance, lasers have the potential to produce different results depending on the dose. Laser–tissue interaction can produce a range of useful applications in the field of dentistry, from the biochemical and biophysical promotion of healing and the selective suppression of the inflammatory cytokine cascade to the surgical ablation of diseased tissues and photothermal destruction of pathogens. In this Special Issue, a number of esteemed researchers have contributed narrative reviews of the integration of lasers in a wide range of treatment modalities. Each subject is considered to be a reflection of the authors’ personal experiences along with reference to contemporary research by individual researchers and university research groups throughout the world.
